The Introduction to Framing and Framing Care Experience session will introduce participants to framing and how it can be used to improve the lives of people with care experience now and in the future. We will share insights from the research and explain the impact of the framing recommendations on shifting public attitudes, building understanding and countering stigma and discrimination. Using presentation and online chat function, we will explore through the different methods for using framing and will explore insights from our research on care experience and child development.

Delivered via Zoom, this 2hr session will cover what framing is, and what it means for how we tell our stories; how we can change public thinking about care experience; explore issue frames, values, metaphor and context and how these be used to tell a new story; cover mental shortcuts, what triggers them – and what its consequences are for communicators.

These topics will be explored via presentation and several opportunities for discussion and exercises.

The session is for anyone who has an interest in understanding how the language we use can impact the lives of people with lived experience of care including those in communications roles.
